The moment is almost here: our Indian Summer Surf Event on October 3rd! To ensure you’re well-prepared and can fully enjoy the day, we’d like to share some practical information and the program with you.
For this event, we are honored to have invited a few top athletes as special guests:
- Lilian de Geus: Three-time world champion in windsurfing
- Maica Levenbach: Head coach of the Holland Surfing Association (HSA)
- Madelein Meppelink: Two-time European champion beachvollybal

Program for the day
Introduction | 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Start with a warm welcome and an overview of the day’s activities.
Round 1 | 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM
- Group 1 – Surfing: Experience the thrill of surfing in the heart of Rotterdam.
- Group 2 – SUP & Canoeing: Enjoy a relaxed session of stand-up paddleboarding or a canoe trip.
- Group 3 – Relaxing: Watch the surfers with a drink in hand.
Round 2 | 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Group 1 & 3 – Relaxing: Watch the surfers with a drink in hand.
- Group 2 – Surfing or relaxing: Ride the waves and feel the excitement of surfing or relax with a drink in your hand.
Award Ceremony | 6:30 PM – 7:00 PM
Street Food Dinner | 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM
Relax and enjoy a delicious dinner while sharing experiences and connecting with other participants. Feel free to stay afterward for a drink.
Drinks | 20:30 – 22:00
Stay and enjoy a drink with us. It’s the perfect opportunity to catch up and reflect on the day.

- Swimwear (Surf and SUP)
- Comfortable clothes and shoes that can get wet (Canoeing)
- Towel
- Sunscreen (if the weather is nice)
- Flip flops, if you want to make sure your shoes stay dry.
- Stoke (a surf term for: I’m excited!)
Facilities
- Terrace: The terrace is covered and non-smoking. A designated smoking area is available upstairs, outside the premises.
- Outdoor Bar: There’s an outdoor bar offering refreshing drinks.
- Changing Rooms & Showers: There are changing rooms with a limited number of lockers and about four shower stalls. However, in line with surf culture, most people will change outside under a party tent.
- Laptops: We recommend not bringing laptops to the venue due to the risk of water damage.
Easy to Reach
Public Transport
RIF010 is easily reachable by public transport. The entrance at Vlasmarkt is just a 5-minute walk from Rotterdam Blaak station, which connects you to trains, trams, and metro lines. It is also a 5-minute walk from Beurs metro station. If you are arriving from Rotterdam Centraal, take metro line D (direction De Akkers) or line E (direction Slinge) and get off at Beurs—just two stops away. Alternatively, tram 23 towards Beverwaard will also get you to Beurs.
Are you coming by bike? A free, covered bicycle parking facility, provided by the municipality, is conveniently located right next to the entrance of RiF010. The parking area’s address is Zijl 10A.
By Car
If you are by car, set your GPS to Dominee Jan Scharpstraat 306, the address for the parking garage located beneath the Markthal. With over 1000 parking spaces available, including electric vehicle charging stations, parking is easy and convenient. Click the button below to reserve your parking tickets at a discounted rate!
What if the weather is bad?
In case of bad weather, the activities will still go ahead. There are enough wetsuits available for everyone, and we even have surf gloves, caps, and boots in case it gets really cold. If we face severe weather conditions, we’ll inform you in advance via email.
For those who prefer to relax, there is plenty of indoor space, and blankets are available to keep you warm outdoors.
